Dalkeith Country Park is 800 M from Rathan House . A visit to Rosslyn Chapel - built by the Knights Templar. Children of all ages love to visit the Butterfly and Insect World, Bird of Prey Centre and Deep Sea World, or go to the Zoo.

GOLF - We have three excellent pay-and-play courses within a mile or so.  You could easily walk to Newbattle.  Kings Acre and Melville Golf Centre are less than five minutes by car and also have excellent driving ranges.   Scotland, of course, is the home of golf and you will find a comprehensive guide to its courses at Scottish Golf.

GARDENS - Edinburgh is home to the famous Royal Botanic Gardens. We also have an excellent Garden Centre, Dobbies.
