Things to do

You will find Edinburgh, The Lothians and The Borders all within easy reach. Dalkeith Country Park beckons, just 800 metres from our doorstep, inviting you to explore its natural splendour and historical richness. The Duke has built a £3M Children’s playpark and a really good tea room restaurant.

Unveil the secrets of history at Rosslyn Chapel, a marvel built by the Knights Templar, captivating visitors with its enigmatic charm and centuries-old legacy.

For families seeking adventure. Kids of all ages will delight in visits to the Bird of Prey Centre or the fascinating Deep Sea World. And let’s not forget the Zoo.

You  might take a rail or car trip down the A7 to  The Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels, Melrose Abbey and Scot’s Abbotsford. Traquair House is in Innerleithen. The road to Traquair is like the Highlands and offers one of the most fabulous views in all of Scotia.

Edinburgh is majestic but busy. There is a lot to be said for a quiet, leafy base on the periphery.
